Recorded before a live audience at the Black Swan Tavern on the
Danforth in Toronto
“Tyler Ellis Live” is exactly that – 23 songs performed in the fall of 2005 before a live audience at The Black Swan Tavern on Danforth Ave. in Toronto and recorded by musician/producer John Switzer. Switzer also mixed it, George Graves of Lacquer Channel, Toronto, mastered it, the photo’s taken at the show by Chris Bingham, were rendered into the packaging by his brother Richard Bingham et voilà! Originally just an attempt to “archive” a large bunch of songs, “Tyler Ellis Live” ended up being a great sounding replication of the solo shows I had been periodically doing since the demise of the “Tyler Ellis Band” in the late 90s. It’s just me and the guitar or the piano so, if “simple songs, simply sung” is up your alley, then this one’s for you. Around the time of this recording I became a “music specialist” (says so on my resume) and gave up classroom teaching for full time music teaching in my primary/junior school (think: Jack Black meets Mr. Holland). Some of the songs on this record I wrote specifically for the kids such as the “Season Songs” medley. I have a full record worth of kid friendly tunes simmering on the back burner... so stay tuned. I suggest playing “Tyler Ellis Live” at concert volume with the lights down low and plenty of your favourite beverage on hand. Enjoy.
